My name is Jessica Rhys-Griffith and I have been a single parent for the last 10 years alongside being a Director and then Chief Operating Officer for a consultancy business. Throughout that time, I have juggled the challenges of building a supportive and positive home environment for myself and my child whilst handling the increasing demands and expectations of an executive role in what has become an increasingly volatile world.<\/p>\n
I have worked through various situations that at times have felt overwhelming; trying to create more time, being present for the right people at the right time, managing my guilt for not always being there for my daughter, being concerned with comparing myself to others and what my daughter might be missing or losing out on, and struggling to be the role model I want to be for my daughter. I have felt challenged at work about my dedication, felt vulnerable to criticism, have felt the need to work twice as hard as others to prove my worth, struggled with visibility and setting boundaries to find a harmonious balance between home and work.<\/p>\n
However, through making some key decisions around being clear on what kind of life I wanted for myself and my daughter, by setting boundaries, asking the right people for help, and changing aspects of how I worked (and I didn\u2019t always get it right but took the learning) I found a way to enjoy home and work and even find time for myself! I enjoy a wonderfully close relationship with my daughter sharing our life\u2019s journey and have had great success at work. I supported the expansion of a business, led and managed multi-disciplinary operations teams globally, and led key operational responses to major challenges such as COVID. I was considered a key player in senior management and was greatly respected.<\/p>\n
I have always been motivated by working with individuals and teams to achieve their best and I want to take what I have learned to support others in similar situations to find their way to be their best selves and be successful at home and work.<\/p>\n
